Join the CWB for a tribute to founder Dick Wagner

On Sunday, May 21st, The Center for Wooden Boats will be hosting a tribute Open House for our late Founding Director, Dick Wagner. The event will begin with a reception in our South Lake Union Boathouse, and include a flotilla sailing by The Old Boathouse – Dick and Colleen Wagner’s home, where the idea of CWB first began.

The flotilla will include large vessels – such as Virginia V, M/V Lotus and Northwest Seaport’s Tordenskjold – as well as select CWB vessels and participants in our Contributing Vessel program. The number of passengers on these boats is limited. Please reserve your space by emailing sailpast@cwb.org with the subject line “Flotilla Passenger”.

Personal boats are welcome to join the flotilla by reservation. If you would like to include yours in this fleet, please email sailpast@cwb.org with the subject line “Flotilla Boat Request”. Please note that space is limited, and we cannot accommodate all boats. Moorage may be available on a first-come, first-served basis on the West Wall at Lake Union Park.

The schedule is:

3pm Boathouse opens for reception. Finger food accepted for standing potluck.
4:30pm Boarding for flotilla.
5pm Flotilla departs CWB to sail by The Old Boathouse.
7pm Last vessel returns to CWB.
9pm Event ends.

We look forward to having you join us for this special evening to celebrate Dick’s life and legacy. We have this community because of his vision, and we’re honored to carry on his dream with you.

Dick Wagner’s family would like to thank our community for your support in this hard time. In lieu of flowers, they have asked that donations be made to The Center for Wooden Boats. Donations can be made online, over the phone or in person. Please include “Dick Wagner Memorial” in memo or notes line.
