Little Harbor will be our most southern point in the Abacos before turning around and heading back. We are looking for a good snorkel sight, and Sandy Cay may be the one.
LITTLE HARBOR MOORING BALL
With the cupboards restocked, off toward Little Harbor. Little Harbor has mooring balls to rent from Pete’s Pub.
Each beach bar has a unique sense of décor:
We walked across the boardwalk to check out the ocean side beaches-
The pine forest fires are burning and the smoke is causing a haze to linger over the harbor. We are in the center of the mooring balls-
DINGY RIDE TO SEE TURTLES AND EXPLORE THE SHORE
FINDING NEW FRIENDS AT THE END OF THE ROAD
Our boating friends from Minnesota had mentioned they had friends in Little Harbor. We inquired at Pete’s Pub if they could direct us to the home of Jan and Brian. “just up the road- so off we went. Thought it would amuse Joyce Berdie if we searched out her friends. Little did we expect to find them home, and to be invited in for a beverage!! What a great day on the water!
This star fish photo is in about 6 feet of water!
SANDY CAY SNORKELING
Leaving the bay, we anchored near Sandy Cay to do some snorkeling. The reefs are protected, and there are small mooring balls for a dingy. Gathered up our gear, took the dinghy to the mooring ball and did some fine snorkeling. No underwater camera- so no photos. The reefs and fish were beautiful, when the stingrays became numerous it was time to leave. We all need to work on climbing back into a dinghy in deep water- no graceful method ! Just glad to be able to get aboard and move on toward Tahiti beach.
LUNCH AT CRACKER P’S
After anchoring at the beach- we all had an appetite after snorkeling. Cracker P’s beach bar is just across the bay. Sure glad we have reliable dinghy’s- they are getting a lot of use.
The service was so-so, but the company was great- and we enjoyed the ambience. We are traveling with our friends Kurt and Patty on their boat Enterprise.
back at the beach…
an evening at the beach, as the tide rolls back in, the sand beach is disappearing!
The forecast calls for high winds, planning ahead, we have already made reservations at Hope Town Marina . Its only a few miles north from the here, lets pull anchor and head into town. Thanks for reading.
